I have been doing a bit or research trying to figure out where the CWA truck fits into the sequence. I know the first 5 or 6 trucks had the bar grille like mine. Then came the solid Maple leaf grille (wag)..I had no idea tho that there were so many variations of it . They may have been done for more air flow.

Time to dig my books out.

The SUV Grizzly [now red] was originally forest green [see earlier post] and had the more solid maple leaf grill. My father had to have the truck re-powered while on a cross-Canada trip. The diagnosis in part was that the engine failed prematurely due to inadequate cooling and the grill was modified for more air flow. The new engine was also more powerful, although I don't know the details.

I suspected air flow was the reason behind all the grill mods. My truck has a very small rad but its aluminum with bolt on tanks.I was worried about it when I put the intercooler in. I pushed the truck hard up the canyon hills going to Cache Creek. It was very hot outside. I have mechanical gauges and the water temp and pyro were fine...
