That truck just came out of Zeballos. It along with the red one were Donny Cox's. I thought he had another one too, but apparently I think everything thats there is it. I'll get some pictures on Monday. Want to look at the lowbed thats behind a KW thats there.

Sorry I'm coming up a little short on more pics. Maybe I can get more today.

I swear I recognise that young man in the Hayes T shirt. But where oh where have I seen that face.

Jeez 72HDX All this time and I didnt know Don owned that truck As Hayesno1 said wonder if there was any of her trailers around It is sad whenever ANYBODY goes down because of the ripple effect it has on everybody. We can only hope that everybody lands on their feet when the dust settles.

She is an ex Rayonier Truck Trakloader They had CPS in the diamond on the doors but I think about this time CPS became Rayonier or the other way around These trucks were delivered under Master Mechanic Hal Fladager There was 6 HDs all spec'd the same NTC335 Cummins engines and 1263A main trans with 8341 aux trans also had SRD rear diffs with 7.54 ratio so they had a top speed of 51 MPH Dont know what the story was on the first truck(Delivered Jan19 1970) but the others came in 2132 2133 Feb 4 1970 2134 2135 Feb 10 1970 and 2136 came Feb 12 1970 They also got 6 P9 Pacifics about the same time. Over time however as with everything else these trucks were reduced to bullcooking One became a line horse and several became fire tankers These were VERY CLASSY trucks in the day Sure would like to get the remains of that truck (and the factory sign) sure is a lot of potential there. OH by the way her serial # is 0033927

Thanks, HDX! I knew you'd know what needed to be known! I think Rayonier bought CPS, then WFP got Rayonier. And yes, I think it was right around the time those trucks were new, that big changes were happening. I have a book with that info, somewhere.....

Kind of a thread hi-jack here, but what books are out there which tell the stories of the various companies that logged and the equipment manufacturer's that supported them? Is there a Hayes book anywhere? Madill? I've always wondered and kept my eyes open for something along these lines? Any down in the Pacific Northwest?

HDX,
Heck you don't need a book seems you have it all saved in your head. Really enjoy seeing and hearing about the old trucks. Glad you and others can share so much history about them. If I win the lottery I will own one and have it rebuilt to look like it was new. It is hard to see them just rusting away, has to be real hard on everyone that was around them in their hay day.

Ken Drushka wrote a really good one, "Working in the Woods"? Not sure if that was it, or not. It was green, if that helps! It tells what outfit was owned by whom, and when they were bought by somebody else. Doesn't have all of them, of course, but it's still a good book. But you know, I think HDX needs to write a book! Hell, not just A book, a whole encyclopedia!
