HDX; thanks for great info as usual. Oopps; sorry about Hayes wide rad at Challenger Site. Here are pics showing the Hayes HD (line horse truck)with wide rad guard. Rad guard was orange in 2005 and red in 2006. I dont know why it was painted but it's the same rad guard. Pics shot in Gold River 2005 and 2006(EdPacific)

Don't need a belt buckle, but I would be interested if someone could find me an 'H' from the front grill of a Hayes truck or the side 'Hayes' ornament from the hood of a logging truck.

I must be asleep. I was all over this thread either side of post #20. I remember H278 when it was still hauling logs back in the '70s.

Skadill I just about had the BIG ONE here Lets see Truck Loggers Convention 1969-70 Arrow 39 marker lites on the HD roof and the big "H" was the old flat bolt on style and the Hayes script was the 4 screw type. This is great KEEP POSTING Love the M&B HDX Also look at the mirrors on the HD They are the old school "Mirrorflex" type Very classy pics

Allways liked the "Bear" on the side of the door myself. Got a couple belt buckles at the Squamish loggers sports way back when. Almost got a big ash tray/dish with a HDX on it out of Peterbuilt in CR., but didnt make it out the door, they gave us hats instead:D

Greatwestcam Great picture I will take two one left and one right LOL Hayes never had the Grizzly Bear till 1971 That was when they adopted it for their emblem. They went to the chrome bears in 1971 and all name plates as well as the full bear on the hood of the Clipper 200s. In 1972 they gold plated all those things because that was the 50th anniversary of Hayes then in 1973 they went back to chrome. Lots of guys put the gold stuff on their trucks because they were available or their original ones were stolen and the gold looked really sharp--but 1972 was the only year for the gold. Next year we are going to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Hayes BIG TIME We are going to have all kinds of shows honoring the 90th. If you ever get the chance -look on the bottom edge of a Hayes mudflap and you will see the date 1972 molded right into it The earlier ones were made by Firestone and didnt have the bear just the name Hayes and "Caution" on the bottom They were way heavier also than the later dated mudflaps

HDX that is great info there, I didn't know that about the Grizzly! Very interested in the 90th anniversary gathering for 2012.
I have a old copy of Business Logger magazine showing 75th anniversary (do you think you'll make the cover again) looked like a big turn out then! keep us posted early as to when and where it will be.

Will post it all on this site as we go along so that anybody can get in on the fun. For at least a couple of the shows we will get every Hayes we can including the Cumberland Fire Truck ( it was the only Hayes to be run down the assembly line TWICE) and the old Hayes Anderson from the Campbell River Museum plus the two overseas (Vancouver) one is in Chilliwack and one is at the Teamsters Museum. It will be a real tribute to a once great company and the employees that worked there Stay tuned

Hey, I still have a copy of that issue, too! One of us should scan that cover and post it here!
