This one needs a hat over the single trap door in the base. With the grain laying on it it is very hard to open. The other trailers have a roof over the door about a foot up so the bulk of the grain weight does not bear directly on the doors.

This one also has the optional side doors for dumping into an auger trough that are used to load grain bins20231001_160133.jpg20231001_160414.jpg20230928_092954.jpg

Steel hoppers get to looking pretty shabby in 5 years or so around here. Timpte has most of the local aluminum hopper market. They are good trailers, the factory is local, and they have a good dealer. Some Cornhuskers, mostly full time O/O who trade every few years. Word used to be don't let a Cornhusker get old, don't know about newer ones.

Steel trailers are very popular around here and commonly parked inside when not being used.

We started couple hours later than we wanted, but I had to fix a Mack on the side.of the road that tried to give away its air compressor.

Beans are 12.4%, running right at 60bu/acre

I didn't get many pics today, but I'll try to remember tomorrow. Being the truck driver, grain cart operator, roadside mechanic and equipment shuttle person, pictures were the last thing on my mind.

We did get 4 truckloads (2500+/- bushel) hauled home and put away before dark though, so it was a nice, productive day.

Know what you mean. My truck was loaded last evening after elevator was closed to finish out the field. Drove to elevator and offloaded this morning first off, the transported the bean head on the cart 13 miles to the next field. Hitched a ride back up to grab my truck and took it back to the house. The bean field being worked today is just across the street so the other truck and trailer loaded and I augered the grain, (about 8000 bushel) into a 10000 bushel bin. Will finish this field tomorrow filling the bin and move to the next.

How many acres will you guys harvest this year?

We will have 600 acres of beans, and about 800 acres of corn to shell. Some of the corn will be ground and bagged as high moisture corn for the dairy cows.

I will ask today as really don't know myself. There is just over 3100 acres in total ground and it usually runs close to 50/50 corn to beans. It varies from year to year.

Unloading beans into the bin this morning first off:

This trailer's doors open so much easier having the roof over the door:
