Experience on buying a Machine at Auction

I passed a Kobelco SK200 LC for the last three years on the way to work that has not moved. One day I pull in the driveway and ask what is wrong with it and is it for sale. The machine was purchased at auction for $30K, and cost an additional $3k to transport it. Upon receiving it in North...

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

Update: The mechanic went through each spool and relief valve, cleaned and each and put them back. When done, there was no difference. The pilot pressure was good at spools. They started working on the three electric valves located under the hydraulic pump. One was broken, but they don't...

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

Mechanic number 6 is out working on the machine today (for the second day) and cannot figure out what the problem is. Stated all the cab functions are good, the relief valves are good, spools are good. I sent the both the service manual and parts manual to help them. When I left they had...

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

Well, no luck. I checked under both the joystick hydraulic hoses for the bucket and the hydraulic fittings for the travel (foot) valves and all the fittings were the same size.

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

You are correct, the problem has changed. The bucket hydraulic cylinder appeared to be bent which is why we thought it was slow. However, when we changed out the cylinder with another, it remained slow.

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

Thanks UFFEX. Can you tell me where the filters are? Since both the bucket and left track are slow, I think it may be a valve between the pilot pump and the spool.

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

OK, I have 600 PSI on the pilot pump but only 225 psi at the spool and relief valve for the bucket. What valve or component could be stuck to limit the pilot pressure at the spool and relief valve? I am (almost) certain that the spool is not being opened all the way on either the left track or...

    Need help with Arm Cylinder

Going to look maybe purchase tomorrow. My existing cylinder is too messed up to use. The piston threads stripped when taking it off.

    Need help with Arm Cylinder

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV. This past weekend we went to replace the seals in the Arm Cylinder. When we disassembled the hydraulic cylinder, the piston had several small chunks taken out near the seals and the cylinder was scorn - badly. There is a possibility that a machine shop can fix...

Question for all of you fine people

Acoal - Amen brother!!! I learned the hard way with my Kobelco Excavator. I knew I was buying a project, but given the time and energy I have put in, I would have been better off spending an extra $15-$20K and get something with minor problems (not major). I just bought a Cat D5G from a...

Question for all of you fine people

Even though money is tight, don't go cheap - you'll end up paying one way or another. I drove past a parked Kobelco for three years and it never moved. I stopped one day and asked if it ran (they said yes but very slowly). They spent $30K at auction (got ripped off) and a couple of grand on...

How to access travel valve on JCB 214 Series II

Yes that helps a lot. Where would I find the dump switch at? I googled the dump switch and it is supposed to be next to the brake pedal. I don't remember having one but will look. THANKS!!!

How to access travel valve on JCB 214 Series II

Thanks Tinkerer, I have the workshop manual, but it does not say how to access the area of the valves (do you remove the plate where the seat bolts to?) It also does not explain how to test the valves. Basically just shows the location on top of the transmission.

How to access travel valve on JCB 214 Series II

My JCB 214 Series II (serial number slp214TCSE0435728) will not go into forward and reverse. All the fuses are good and occasionally you can get the backhoe to go into gear, but when you change from forward to reverse, it will not go - you loose both forward and reverse. I can feel the...

Kobelco SK200 LC Mark IV one track is slow

Serial number YQU4681 The left hand track is slow until you partially operate the right hand side. Would this be a valve problem or the lever servo that you push to engage the track? Any help is appreciated.

    Kobelco SK200 LC

Ok, today I got the CPU to sync with the new gov motor. I still cannot figure out what is causing both the bucket and the left track to be slow (everything else is good). Below is the valve body next to the hydraulic tank that had two valves stuck. It was cleaned and helped alot. The...
