Broken Bolt - Crossmember to Reverser - John Deere 350 - How to Fix?

Just so you know, if you actually cut a bolt from 3 inch to 2.5 inches and it is a bolt with shouldered non-threaded section, it will be a weak bolt afterwards as you have shortened the stretch zone. If it was a bolt that was threaded right through to the head it will be perfectly fine. Have...

Bobcat E26 (Pilot solenoid not energizing.)

Glad the simple tests revealed the real cause. Its called diagnostic based repairs, better than firing a cannon of parts. Simon C

    Old D9 undercarriage parts

Same vintage of John Deere Skid Steer with Non- Support from Deere any more. You will buy new as far as they are concerned, and that has spurred some garbage aftermarket stuff that doesn't fit on machine and can't get your money back. Oh yes there is some that is okay but don't bank too...

CAT 259 D3 Key Switch Circuit Wiring Schematic Parasitic Draw Troubleshooting Help

Half an amp will kill a battery super fast but especially in the cold as the load does not change but the batteries capacity changes drastically. Simon C

CAT 259 D3 Key Switch Circuit Wiring Schematic Parasitic Draw Troubleshooting Help

Drawing only 5 milliamps per day will haul a battery down substantially in 30 days, but for it to go down substantially in 5 days takes 50 milliamps. I have tested many a vehicle through my Fluke 87 along with my Milliamp Clamp , and on single battery applications if machine is used only every...

    Old D9 undercarriage parts

For every D9 built there was probably 10- D7's built. Only used on big highway jobs or mine sites. Difficult to move and everything heavy to repair. Simon C

    Old D9 undercarriage parts

I haven't looked, but suppliers generally stay away from once in 5 or 10 year sales. Could be some out there but as time goes by every year more of it is gone for good. Simon C

    2021 cat 299d3 idle issues

They could have timing of injection set at number 4. It is possible, as they can do whatever the manufacturer wants. As you said, if it was set at number 4 then the valves would be rocking on number 1. I guess the point is to put the timing exactly as the manufacturer says at whatever...

    2021 cat 299d3 idle issues

Yes you are correct, the only problem is that sometimes people forget to see what the manufacturer calls number one, whether the fan end or flywheel end and then can't figure out how come the marks do not line up. But I do get your point, hopefully more people will read these postings and put...

    2021 cat 299d3 idle issues

Noticed that when I read the R&I a while back. Wonder how many people were caughjt with the usual Top Dead Center of #1. I always wonder on something I haven't worked on if Number 1 is at the fan end or flywheel end. Deutz is famous for that and has fooled a lot of people. Good to have pointed...

cat 259d4 final drive disassemble procedure 2 speed

A box of parts brought to dealership for an exchange is worth $0.00 for exchange. Once apart it sometimes gets way more complicated than the tooling the average person has, plus one thing done wrong and it will leak or grenade. Simon C

Bobcat E26 (Pilot solenoid not energizing.)

I was going to ask exactly how the magnetic switch was tested. I have tested for voltage drop before but did not realize that there was not a complete circuit, thus no voltage drop on the part I was testing. Voltage drop testing always requires a flow of current to be accurate. The higher the...

Cat d5g ignition diagram with prelube

From what I have read the pump is to just prelube the rods, mains, and maybe cambearings. The engine will turn 10 times per second at idle and the pump will feed everything else. If it can't it will shut down under oil pressure mangement, whether solenoid or computer. Simon C

    JD550 starts & dies

You could try running off of a remote can to rule out the fuel tank. Some found out the problem was in tank when they did the test. Lots of little things to test. Simon C

Cat d5g ignition diagram with prelube

By the way, if it is starting the pump but not starting the engine , the switch is probably not closing the contacts or they are internally burn't out. Have seen many times. Simon C

Cat d5g ignition diagram with prelube

Okay seen your pressure switch and the terminals are not the cleanest. Try to follow the wires from it to either a relay or the S-Terminal of starter is my guess. Simon C

Cat d5g ignition diagram with prelube

Post number 10 shows the sticker stating it has a prelube system on it. Don't think anyone would even get a sticker like that without installing it. Did you see an oil pressure switch at the end of the hose going into the engine, not the suction end, or elsewhere that has that 2 braid wire that...

    JD550 starts & dies

Put air to the tank opening while holding back the air pressure with a rag ball and see if it runs longer with 1-2 psi of air pushing the fuel to the pump. If someone holds the air pressure on for you with a variable flow blow gun you can check for any fuel leaks which will suck air. Let off...

Bobcat E26 (Pilot solenoid not energizing.)

Even with the plugs taken apart, an ohm meter test will only tell you you are on the correct path, won't tell you how good the wires are in terms of having the ability to carry current plus you can test the switch at the same time. Simon C
