They must have encountered some problems with the frame/pad and placed the log there instead, it may not have been secured. It must be difficult to get the tailgate pad in place after tower is lifted. This yarder was specially built for Weyerhaeuser Pee Ell division to make an easier transport over lots of underdimensioned bridges they had (according to Rusty Grapple). Yarders is well alive but have been dredging gravel for a while somewhere in Oregon. I bring some borrowed pictures from Facebook, hope it's ok Jeff R.I'm kind of curious why the log under the yarder frame and not using the pad to support base of yarder under tower ?

Murk 100, were you on lone or changing scenery?
That yarder is just down the road from me, here in Toledo, WA. "L" Rock Industries. Been there a year or better, plus in the true Madill spirit they bought a parts machine. I know they have replaced the pinion gear and one of the main gears. One of the units came out of California. And yes, they pile rock up against that plate in front of the tube![]()
We caught up with permits in Port Alberni so I had some spare time for a project like this. HEF is semi responsible for hooking us up for the test drive.. back to Port next week..
Prolog NZ .. pictures above with 4 GYs has a 123 that has been rebuilt as well, 60 series, 5 speed Allison, new cab same as the 144, electric yarding controls, I don't think there's any air in the cab, wireless remote for the guylines so the operator can spool his guylines. I talked to the owner who was telling me its 10% faster than the 124...think its for sale..
