Born2clearcut; Great pics. This must be a BCFP truck as it says unit #6-247 at dashboard; well at least the cab. Truck seems to be standard logging configuration - not a preloader with reach. I'll have to check my notes, but definitely HDX knows her story.. ;-)

Looks like an ex Interfor truck from Narrows inlet. Forshner brothers bought a few trucks off them and brought them to Clowhom falls. Pretty sure Horsman trucking ended up with it.

Yes i'm 99% sure it came from Narrows It was a BCFP truck in Narrows until Fletcher Challenge bought out Narrows , then Interfor took over and rebuilt and painted the truck in the mid 90's

Ok heres the story That truck COULD very well be 6-247 Ex BCFP unit BUT it must have been owned by Rob Wigmore (North Bute Transport)at one time because it was of his style rebuilds Note the Pacific doors on the Hayes cab also the hinged dash as well as the P16 fuel tank between the water tank and the cab This was what he use to do when he rebuilt those trucks Pacific style front fenders and the front bumper was brought out to match the front fenders. Born2clearcut Here is what you were wondering BCFP Truck numbers 6-245 s/n 5529 with 60 ton Hayes trailer # 52-507 and 6-246 s/n 5530 trailer #52-506 were delivered to Malibu Division May 2 1973 Unit # 6-247 s/n 5531 and trailer # 52-508 were delivered to Nekite division May 23 1973 and 6-248 s/n 5532 with trailer # 52-509 was delivered to Narrows Division June 11/73 What is unusual is the fact that all 4 of these trucks were painted YELLOW Keep in mind that in 1967 BCFP changed over to the new colors Orange/White and the Green Stripe and for these trucks to be painted School bus yellow is different 6-245 and 6-246 were painted 2321-2329 yellow and 6-247 and 6-248 were painted 2331-89010 yellow I know its a long winded answer to the question but VERY interesting outcome Somebody HAS to Confirm the serial number now for sure Look on the front frame rail behind the Left front steering tire right where the bulkhead fitting comes through the frame for the front wheel brake air line and you will see the S/N stamped in there Keep in mind that it was common for trucks to be sent to other operations for a while or when they were needed 6-245 and 6-246 ended up down at Gordon River after they were finished at Malibu 6-246 became a linehorse and was eventually sold to IPL and is down in Sarita with us now See what you can find out OK

I looked for the s/n on the frame this summer when I took some pics of this unit, could not find it as the area looked to be machined smooth
It has a hyd ram to lift the bunk which is why they bought the truck for low bedding, I know one of the owners, so next time I see him I'll ask about it. I do like how the cab is redone, A/C back when I was driving was only a dream, now adays around here guys wont even go out if its not working!

Good pictures Greatwestcam You can sure see the Pacific influence on this truck Very well done Everything looks well laid out There was a LOT of money spent rebuilding her Note the Quality Trimmers interior kit Must have been a fun job for John over there in Vancouver because he would have had to blend the Pacific door panels and then make the HDX headliner (8 piece) Sure makes them look classy. He use to make all the headliners for Hayes and Pacific both cardboard and padded and he still has all the patterns One of our guys with a 1966 Clipper got him to make a new cardboard roof section to keep the truck 100% original and it looks drop dead perfect Im thinking that it IS 6-247 and that the brass tag was left on there for nostalgia reasons I sure wish they all still had them. While we are on this subject Has anybody seen or know what happened to the ex BCFP truck that went to Pope and Talbot up at Midway???? She was 6-251 from Caycuse Ozzie Nelson from there put the second air horn on her when he drove her Not many BCFP trucks had two of them and it made her stick out If anybody has seen her could you let us know her status Thanx HDX

County and township maintenance and snow removal,
Great pictures and stories on the Hayes trucks. Being a flatlander, I've had no exposure to them, and now I feel the need to go west and try to see a few of them in real life. Their beauty is in their function, and although it's fantastic to see a picture of one restored to what looks like near perfection, it's also nice to see the working trucks wearing their battle scars proudly. I laugh a little when I hear people referring to their Toyotas, Nissans,Chevys,Dodges, and Fords as trucks. I have pickups, and I have trucks, but I don't have anything to compare to these "Real Trucks". I hope there are always a few of you who have the ability and ambition to keep examples of these trucks working or showing, so when my kids and grandkids grow up, they won't confuse Grandma's grocery-getter with a "Real Truck".
I'll go back to motorgraders now, but will check back once in awhile to see how things are going. Keep up the great work!
