JD 850k no ECU alternator field output
New alternator works great. Output from ECU is ~14v when idling with field wire disconnected and battery buss voltage around 24.5v. with field connected the alternator output is 28.1v. All good. Thanks for the suggestion and support! -

Fiat Allis FG85 transmission no 1st or 2nd
Additionally I forgot to mention. A main transmission light on the console is illuminated when in 2nd or 1st gear. I don't have the manual but would guess this is a low pressure indicator and would lead me to guess fluid is bypassing somewhere not allowing pressure to build when it 2nd and 1st.- clearprop

Fiat Allis FG85 transmission no 1st or 2nd
Ended up with a FG85 today. Seems to run great other than no 1st or 2nd gear. The shift linkage attaches to what appears so be a plunger valve on top of the transmission. 3rd and 4th gears shift very easy with the shift leaver but 2nd is somewhat harder and 1st is almost impossible. I talked to the local JD service manager. He tells me the ECM calculates DPF level via 3 different ways and this code means of the 3 different calculations, 1 of them does not agree with the others. This causes the machine to run a regen about every 4-5 hrs of operation. I would assume one... -

Dozer purchasing suggestions
The 850J with that low of hrs sounds like would be worth looking into. Few months ago I got a 850K but don't have enough time on it to give you a good comparison. Handles nicer than the 6R I ran a little quite a few years ago and has plenty of power. -

Dozer pulled Drainage Tile Plow suggestions
If you are looking to add a machine specifically for plowing, take a look at getting a Bron Self propelled 550 or something. It would have the weight distributed better for pulling. If you have potential other uses for a Huge dozer then maybe go that route but don't go buy a dedicated dozer for... -

sorta user-configurable. some want them some don't....looks like the 850K evidently came with greaseable pins but the operators manual was not updated....at least the one I have wasn't. -
