I think those are Hitachis. Are you referring to the last couple episodes? Looks like a super big Hitachi to me.

    Training for Excavator

I don't mean to hijack the OP's thread, but what is a jump turn? I'm pretty green myself as far as the terminology of machine operation goes.

Now I remember, yeah, that was something like a 16G, but I don't remember the number. As for the 2-Series, yeah, I stood next to one a few weeks ago, and it is so solid, it's pretty incredible. It's really amazing that they even still work, and yet they work well!

Yeah, I don't know: they do appear to be good machines, but personally, I always like to stick with the tried and true manufacturers. I'm biased because of my job towards the Caterpillar brand, but if you're going to throw down a couple 100,000 or even more dollars on a machine, you want...

    Training for Excavator

Well, I can definitely identify with you! Until this past summer, I had no experience with operating heavy equipment either, and then I got a job in the heavy equipment industry. Needless to say, I've gone from a complete noob to something slightly better than one in a few months. From my...

I didn't see the 16G, but I definitely saw the 245. That thing is a legend!

Ok, the truck thing makes sense now. I could believe that picture cause his driving seems to be suspect at best. I also see what you're saying with Tony and the road thing. Something like a 16M on those roads would really make things better, but they aren't very focused on roads or safety at...

From what I know, they are used probably more in Europe than anywhere else. I haven't operated one or been around one in person, so I don't want to claim experience I don't have. Just curious: what size are you looking at?

    Gold Rush D10

Yeah, I do remember that. One of those timely mistakes that works perfect for television lol. The haul truck might not work for them, but the one factor I'm taking into consideration is size. A haul truck is shorter than a rock truck (with greater capacity), and only slightly wider. So what the...

    Gold Rush D10

Yeah, they would need a better/wider haul road for an off highway truck, but they really need that for what they have currently. And like you said, the excavators are pretty large compared to those small trucks, so something will have to change soon enough.

Logging Accidents: And They Walked Away.........

Yeah, exactly. One of those features that some might not consider until it's too late. But the tires look completely untouched from those pictures.

Logging Accidents: And They Walked Away.........

Oh ok, that would definitely explain it. Hank R-->Hank Rabe?

Great conversation in here from what I've read. Yeah, I noticed the 53 ton D6 comment too. I was just in one of those a couple weeks ago, and unless the whole machine was filled with lead, I don't think there is any way to make a D6 weigh 106,000 pounds. On another note, I notice some strange...

Engine fire, or something else? Looks like that machine is done for.
