Hitachi EX120-2 Hydraulic Pump Wire Harness

The Pacific Hillbilly on YouTube is rebuilding his Ex120-2 back to factory specs. He has a spreadsheet showing all the prices and part numbers for everything he’s rebuilding. He paid $1044 for a complete OE harness. Maybe he’ll reply if you shoot him a message.

    JIC hose/fitting parts catalog confusion

I know your already have your answer but an easy way to remember is to take the dash number and put it over 16 and reduce the fraction. That will give you the size of the fitting & hose. Older Ford tractors use -14(7/8) on -12 (3/4)hose. Parker makes -14 in the series 43. 8/16=1/2 10/16=5/8...

    Case 450C

I think you’re doing a fine job as an amateur machinist. The more you do the better you’ll get. 4140, harden it with a torch, quench in oil and temper in an oven. Make it a little long so you can hold it in the chuck. Leave it a couple thousands heavy and polish to size after heat treat. Cut...

    Case 350 dozer problems

I had a 350B for about 15 years. Sold it to my brother and it’s still going strong. Is it spinning when it’s at operating temp? You have to be fast about shifting those gears. If it has the wrong oil or the oil is thick from being cold. There’s a chance the driveshaft is going along for a free...

555E Switching to 5w40 Engine Oil…. Good idea?

I use a jump box and T6 5W-40 in anything that runs in the winter. The oil gauge is moving as soon as I hit the key. I started the 545D to move snow the other morning and when it was -4*. It kicked off instantly without any glow plugs or block heater. The jump box makes a huge difference when...

1984 Case 850c Instrument Panel Rebuild

It might take some hunt’n and pecking but there are people out there who rebuild clusters & gauges. My buddy had his Case 830 tractor gauges & cluster rebuilt. Aside from him being to cheap to strip and rechrome all the bezel’s, everything looked brand new when it was done.

Thanks for the link. I’ll order it and post an update when it gets here.

    EX120-2 Angle (A) sensor

Good deal. These guys are the best. Can you post a link to the Dr. Ex you bought. I’d like to have one for my 120-3.

D5G XL blade lift cylinders oddity

I’m far from an expert but that looks like pump cavitation to me. I’d check for air in the system and why the pump is starving for oil.

Hydraulic valves extremely hard to move.

Takes about 30min to fix. Pull the handles off and grease them. The 1/2” rod that runs through all the handles fills with rust in the sleeve from sitting. Sometimes one is sticky or 2-3 the handles move at once when one is pulled. If the plastic liner in the handle is worn out, 1/2” pex works...

Ford 550 power reversing transmission clutch packs problem

Pretty sure you have to collapse the spring to get to the snap ring. Do your best to make sure that torque converter & radiator is clean or you’ll be splitting it again real soon. I usually swap them out for a manual gearbox when the power reversing transmission dies. New torque converters are...

    The Hitachi EX100-1 project

I’d pull the injectors and crank the engine over to see what’s going on before I pulled the pump and sent it out. I bought a cheap injector bench tester that showed I had leaking, plugged and the wrong pressure on all the nozzles. You can measure the amount of fuel thats coming out of them...

    Ex100-2 Slow hydraulics

I did the UC on my 120-3 last summer. I was shocked at how reasonable the price was from the dealer. (12) bottom rollers (2) sprockets (2) idlers (2) chains $5500 for everything and had it the next day. ITR brand

    Filter cart micron rating recommendation

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate all the help you guys have given me. This is a new to me machine and I have no idea what the maintenance schedule was. Would you recommend sending out a sample before spending the $800 on a drum of oil? I’ll polish the oil inside the drum before putting it...

    Filter cart micron rating recommendation

Hey guys. I scored a filter cart at auction yesterday and need to buy some new filters for it. It has 40 & 10 micron filters in it now. What rating would you recommend for hydraulic oil? The filtered oil will be used in my excavator. Thanks, Andy

    New guy no clue

There’s nothing complicated about doing a complete UC on an excavator. It’s just busy work with an impact and torch. Some of the roller bolts will break but you can cut them out with a torch.

    New guy no clue

I’m in the process of reclaiming 50acres. I started with a small Case 350B dozer and a Ford 4500 backhoe about 7 years ago. They’re great little machines and better than dying on the end of a shovel:cool: I ran the snot out of them both but they’re not production machines. Buy once & cry once...

Maybe there was a forgotten binder on that corner when they tried lifting it up off the ship?

    555 a vs 420 d purchase option

Never owned a Cat but I’m partial to the old Fords. Parts availability is good because most parts cross with the agricultural stuff and what you can’t order is at the salvage yard. This is an old 4 stick Ford 4500 I’ve had for 15yrs or so. Great machine for the small projects but it’s nothing...

    Ford/New Holland 555D power steering

Have you checked your engine oil level lately to make sure hydraulic oil is not going in there too? Those pumps are easy to rebuild so try the $25 rebuild kit before buying a new one. It might be the oring between the pump halves that failed. I’d also buy a pump off a low hour salvaged machine...
