    D5G LGP Low Voltage

Check aftermarket. We are able to buy alternators from O'Reilly for our 279D's for a fraction of the cost of OEM from Cat.

A few projects I have done recently

Don't get paid to design it - get paid to build what the plans show. ;)

A few projects I have done recently

Just a aux. hydraulic circuit, QC line and standard lines for the boom/stick/bucket. Our 325 has another line - 2nd aux. for multi-function attachments like a rotating grapple.

    Always wanted a d6r

I think you did pretty well for $45K. Hope it serves you well. Really like the D6R dozers. Bought a new D6R XW back in 2006 - fantastic machine.

Getting old sucks. Crane Op at least your dad took care of the finances so you and your family don't have to worry about that. My father is the same way. Spent Friday a week ago at the hospital with my Dad. He needed 2 stints and has been on medication that from a layman's...

How to fill in potholes/road maintenance

Give us a little more background on this operation. Obviously it's a hard core recycling yard but what's going on overall?

    Demo using excavator

I remember when I bought the first track machine back in 2001. It was a Bobcat T190. At the time I was a homebuilder and had been running wheel machines with every combination of tires in the quest to fight the dreaded framing nail. Foam filled, those flexible airless tires from Mclaren in...

    Demo using excavator

Agreed a 40 isn't large enough but we use our rubber tracked 279's and 305 mini's all the time on site and building demo projects. Just gotta know how to run them in that environment.

A few projects I have done recently

Went to the Cat house to get a bearing for hydro cylinder end on the D5G. Gaggle of 775's headed somewhere. Doubt they are for dealer stock. They had a very nice 335. Factory GPS - no towers. This baby can be had for $380K with factory GPS, QC and 2 buckets. I've checked.. :D

    Demo using excavator

There's a lot of unpack here. First of all the biggest thing is insurance. We do commercial site work and every GL carrier we've had in the past 15 years does not like to insure demo - so much so we took the pictures of building demo off our website since insurance companies check your...

A few projects I have done recently

Backfilling around the columns at the college project. Previously we had to remove the existing stairs and dig down for the concrete column construction for the new front entrance. Backfilling with the excavated material from the same area along with some footing spoils from the column...

A few projects I have done recently

Building the slope on the office-warehouse project. Rented a Bell B30 from a local dealer/rental house. If I were in the market to buy an artic it wouldn't be a Bell. It's not a bad truck it's just the Mercedes engine and the goofy electronics. It was perfect for this job = (cheapest...

    D5G LGP Low Voltage

I would have the alternator tested since you already have it off. G series dozers like 14.4 volts across the system to operate all nice and happy. Since you were only getting 12 or so volts did the tractor do anything weird other than throw the low voltage code? We've had our D5G XL slam...

Does anyone have experience with aftermarket rubber track drive sprockets for a CAT 2999D

What's the difference in price on the sprocket segments? I've only went back with Cat on our 279's and have had great service.

How to fill in potholes/road maintenance

Here the local and state DOT want a credit back on all the millings per ton so that has pretty much eliminated the ability to get any millings unless it's a private job like a parking lot. Our equipment yard started with a 1' layer of well hammered out limestone then topped with some dense...
