Digger- No the chains are not the "pewag" brand but are similar. They run about $650.00 for a pair. Dgodgr-Yes, I know Ron, buy all my teeth and edges from him. I have always used DM wire and rope or "delta" for chains and slings. It has been impossible to get what I want. I think I am just...

    some link belt action

We pay $75.00 per load to the local landfill that is already a ripoff. They are an hour closer on the turn then the other pits but they charge for it. Trucks are getting $80-90 an hour and a 2 speed large frame skidsteer is over $100.00 for snow removal. It is impossible to find trucks because...

We are still digging out from all the snow. Close to 6' over two weeks. In Aspen itself there is probably close to 4'. It has been tough and on this job we have hauled out about 15 loads at $75.00 a load. You can't even dump snow in Aspen without having to pay. Anyhow, just waiting on March...

    Clearing driveway and building site

Maybe you should look into a Kobelco ED150. Trackhoe and dozer. I would not consider buying new, as you have minimal experience and the machine will incur damage. Clearing and grubbing is nasty and whatever you buy is going to get banged up. I would imagine you could buy a used ED150 for...

    Clearing driveway and building site

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but any way you go is going to cost money. Heavy equipment is expensive by nature and repairs are costly. How much can you afford to spend on a dozer or track hoe? Do you know what you can get for the amount of money you have available? It sounds like you are...

    Hey Cat Detectives, little help?

Digger, I would guess that hoe would go for something in the mid 70's. A coupler would be nice as you could run a rake and different buckets. As for the hammer, it's hard to say unless you have some inside scoop. My Dad retired at 76 so it shows if you like it, keep at it. My dump truck driver...

    Hey Cat Detectives, little help?

What's the deal with not wanting to ask the dealer? Keeping your cards close? It looks like a nice hoe. Watch the aux. hydraulics, next you know you'll be running a pecker on it. Good Luck.. You are due a newer machine, and who say's you're not going to run it till your 80??

The one man show to grow

It looks ok to me, no reason to pick apart his work. The material looked fine and had plenty of moisture. Good dirt guy's know dirt. The next question will be if he ran a jumping jack around the perimeter of the garage. No reason to pick the guy apart for showing us his work. That is probably...

Maybe time to get a real pickup? Lets talk brands, engines, MPG

A daily driver to haul 40K?? No thanks. Either buy a hotshot truck, which will get you to 26k or buy a 6 wheeled class 8 and get a trailer to go behind it. I would either use a dump truck and trailer or lowboy for this application. Good Luck, CD

Here are a few pics of a "new" plow truck we got going. I bought the GMC for $600.00, it is a one tone with a 350 auto in it. It came as a cab and chassis. We had the flatbed, sander and plow at the yard attached to other stuff so we stripped everything, cleaned it up and mounted them on the...

Case SR200 Won't start. Simple Fix I'm Sure

I'm with Craft. If it was running before you replaced the filters and now it is not, you probably need to crack an injector and bleed the fuel system. If it still won't start wait for Willy or Nige. Regards, CD

    Some random pics

Hey Buddy, Don't you get sick of all the whiney second homeowners bitching about their icy driveways? I just raised my prices for sanding to $70 a ton, we'll see how it goes, The ice slicer with mag chloride in it goes for $450.00 for a 15 ton load. What else is new? How is the spring excavation...

    work in georgia

Experience is really the only tool that will help you. Knowledge of your local market and keeping track of how much the job's go for that you bid also helps. The other thing that helps is having a few friends that are in Dirtwork as well. Being able to discuss work and talk about pricing really...

    New Holland Skid Steer L170

You are not going to want to hear this but here we go. New Holland's have always had the problem, they are notorious for it. I finally got rid of both of mine 10 years ago and have never had a problem since. Regards, CD
