I remember when he just came to this forum, asking some dilettante questions about hydraulic power steering. And some of people here ( and I remember exactly who, but I’m not going to say) gave him a hard time.

I think Tinkerer will come back. He is very knowledgeable and is always willing to try and help people out. He's not a spring chicken with over 50 years of operating experience. He deserves to take as long a break as he needs. He will be missed in the mean time.
