Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to talk you into spending money. I'm just trying to point out to you how much you might be potentially gambling by NOT spending money, if that makes sense.
I know, but it seems like the right thing to do, and I like doing the right thing and taking care of my equipment. I want many years of trouble free operation.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
I don’t know but I think it would be worth an ask

The engine is Kubota, and so is the ECM. Everything on the engine has Kubota Part Numbers. The only reason there are also parallel Cat Part Numbers is to comply with Cat’s “one stop shop” policy.

Back in the day we had a setup in the office to flash ECMs without the need of bringing a machine to the shop. I wonder if Kubota could do the same.?

Unfortunately the closest Kubota dealership I have is about an hour away in Oxnard California and they will not call me back. Long story short is that I bought a used Kubota CPX 1140 (from a private seller) and tried to get some replacement parts for the rear wheel upper and lower arms. I could not find the parts and when I called Kubota, they claimed that due to a safety recall, those arms had been changed to a new design and they do not support the old style.

They said since it was a safety recall, that they would do the repair for free. They were super friendly and helpful and even the tech gave me his cell phone number so I could reach him directly. When they ran my serial number however, they found that another dealership had taken the repair money and never did the repair. That's when they started getting weird on me and told me that I would have to pay the full retail amount of around $5000 per side to do the recall work and they would not sell me the parts for me to do the work.

What the hell man!

Call the original selling dealership. What Kubota does with recalls is to pressure the original selling dealer to do the recalls in a certain amount of time. Chances are they where told to do the recall but couldn’t find the machine. So just claimed the repair and has parts still in there stock. If they are honest they will do the repair.
