The sticker on the side of it says Wagner Rents. You gotta want it pretty bad to fool with those things. They rent for about $500 a day and you still have to feed them diesel to boot. We haven't seen the frost get that bad yet and we just went through a spell with overnight temps ranging -15 to -20 degrees.

I've heard they're costly to run, but work very well. Too bad there isn't an effective solution. I've seen the heated blankets, they're electric and cost a lot. I was considering a couple of those for emergency deals. Easier to not dig in the winter!

In post 663 is this a home made skeleton bucket on the skid steer?

That is a Yukon jack bucket. We use it for pulling out oversize when roughing in roads. We also use it for tramming concrete and asphalt c/d. It works well for stumps and such as well. Pretty tough bucket, it has stood up to 12 years or so of intermittent very hard use.

These are of another civil/structural excavation. major pain in the rear. We had to keep all the utilities working until the very end, we were basically done by the time they moved the gas and electric. We also had to reroute a 8" sewer service as well. All with temps in the -20f to 0f range.

Here are a few pics of a "new" plow truck we got going. I bought the GMC for $600.00, it is a one tone with a 350 auto in it. It came as a cab and chassis. We had the flatbed, sander and plow at the yard attached to other stuff so we stripped everything, cleaned it up and mounted them on the GMC. I might have $2000.00 with the labor for the boy's. If it ever snowed it would pay it's way in a few storms.

P.S Notice the demo saw blade being used for the sander wheel. Old school.

We are still digging out from all the snow. Close to 6' over two weeks. In Aspen itself there is probably close to 4'. It has been tough and on this job we have hauled out about 15 loads at $75.00 a load. You can't even dump snow in Aspen without having to pay.

Anyhow, just waiting on March.

We pay $75.00 per load to the local landfill that is already a ripoff. They are an hour closer on the turn then the other pits but they charge for it. Trucks are getting $80-90 an hour and a 2 speed large frame skidsteer is over $100.00 for snow removal. It is impossible to find trucks because everyone in busy moving snow. All the snow removal guy's are maxed out as well.
