I have some help coming to help me pump water tomorrow but forgot where I left my floating pump so went out today to find it. I found the pump pretty quick but noticed the rope I had tied to it was missing. No big deal. I put it on the back of the quad and took it to the shop to do an oil change and make sure it works. I was going to let it run for a minute to warm the oil but couldn't. Something had chewed through the spark plug wire!
The wire is too short to put another spark plug connector on. I think the wire is integral with the coil and I recall one of the bolts holding the housing with the recoil is partly stripped. It would have to come off to replace the wire or coil/wire assembly. Thankfully I remembered NGK makes a spark plug wire splicer. Went to a couple places and couldn't find one. Then I remembered I saw them at a friend's M/C repair shop. Got there just in time as they happened to be running a little late. They were suppose to close at 5:30 and I got there about 5:45. Thankfully they had the splicer, some wire and a spark plug cap. It saved me from having to hope they had it tomorrow and scrambling to find it somewhere else if they didn't. NAPA didn't have it. I could use my other pumps, a 3" and two 2" but it would be much slower. The Watermaster floating pump is perfect for what I need and pumps about 150 GPM more than the other 3 pumps combined. It uses 6" lay flat hose and is 700 GPM (840 US GPM). I sure hope I can get going. It will also save a bunch on gas. It only needs a 6 HP engine.
