Greetings all,

Curious if anyone can speak to why my JD 260 skidsteer engine shakes violently but operates well otherwise. It shakes so much it breaks the alternator tension adjustment arm. The shake dissipates at higher rpm but does still shake. Definitely worse at idle and low rpms. All articulations function normally and operations are good. In other words... we are not prevented from using the machine tho it would be better if it didn't shake so much.

We did have an engine mount bolt that was broke and we replaced it. This was some time ago. Thought it may have been the culprit but after replacing it the engine still, and always, has had a major shake since we have owned it. I have believed that the 3 cylinder diesel variant was responsible but had hoped that surely JD would not put such an engine aon the market with that kind of shake. Apparently they would. Outside of the shake the unit has mostly worked well for us. It has had it's issues for sure.

Not really related to your skid steer, but i have a John Deere Gator with a yanmar diesel that rattles to pieces at low idle until it gets warm. I also have a John Deere 755 compact tractor with an older version of the same Yanmar that does the same thing. That one did eventually break the motor mounts, but still shakes violently until it gets warm or you increase the throttle.
