2014 CAT 308 E2CR with 4800 hours

Throws error code:
Engine Fault - Check Engine

Engine Derates (shuts off)
HP drops from 70 HP to 40HP (dies)

CAT mechanic replaced two sensors:
Mass Error Sensor
Crank Sensor

CAT mechanic does not know what is wrong or what to replace next.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

20 year experience CAT service mechanic tried to update ECM engine control module but this unit can not be updated.

Monitor in cab shows a red exclamation ❗️ flashing at top of monitor and in the lower portion of monitor message says Engine Fault Check Engine.

This machine doesn’t show the Diagnostics on the menu. The mechanic said first error code said replace mass error sensor. That was replaced last week. Then the second error code said to replace the crank sensor. After both brand new sensors were replaced still having same problem but no more error codes.

Machine drops from 70hp to 40HP and shuts down. Machine was running fine before this initial error code.

Thank you

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Without knowing details of what specific Diagnostic Codes are/were present any suggestions would be a cr@p shoot IMHO.

Can you get hold of the mechanic and ask him for some details of what the Codes were.? If he was following standard protocol he should have downloaded a Product Status Report (PSR) before he started any diagnostics. The PSR is an Adobe pdf document and would contain details of all Codes/Events that were regaistered in the machine ECMs. Please ask him if he has that document.
