we have a cat 302.5 excavator its a 99 or 2000 with 3684 hours on it. it starts up no problems and i can dig along with it and it just stops wait some and it starts working again. i have changed out the safety switch, and the hydraulic filter and fluids. Any ideas on ideas on what the problem might be?

Does it chug to a stop.. or does it shut off like u turned off the key.??
If it’s a chug, chug, stop.. it’s probably fuel related..
If it’s an immediate shut off, it’s probably a safety switch or electrical..

Could be arm bar switch going bad, possibly wiring to it, rubbed or broken. Relay for that circuit going out. Good luck. Let us know what you find

My did the same, but after tearing servos and changing them around, discovered a bad control power fuse holder socket was bend-only and occasionally making monetary contact.took 2 days for the tech to find it and only by accidentally when I rested my finger on the fuse he heard the safety relay pull in.
