No I don't have an idea. It should be plug&play. I think you may have a bad ECM but better to refer back to the supplier for advice before condemning it.

Nige, I ended up sending the ECM back to GoECM for a second replacement. The second one arrived today and this one seems to be working!

I went back and forth with the issue before convincing myself it had to be the ECM that was causing the trouble. But with no way of testing it apart from knowing that it SHOULD work when connected to the machine how can anyone really tell.?

As the old say goes, "you can have cheap or you can have good, but you can't have both at the same time." When you go non-OEM you roll the dice every time you buy.

Agreed! GoECM does have a lifetime warranty so that makes me feel better about purchasing through them.

The bottom/backside of the housing on mine was really bad. I couldn't see it until I pulled it from the machine. I pulled the back off of mine to inspect it and it was clear that the electronics were corroded.

First, thank you all for this troubleshooting thread. Update, performed all this troubleshooting to know fix until the last resort of replacing the interlock ECM. The flashing lights have stopped but I’ve yet to work the machine for the final test. Thank you all again.

Hola, estoy solucionando el problema de que el indicador del freno de estacionamiento y el indicador del apoyabrazos parpadean en mi CAT 226B número de serie MJH08353. En la imagen adjunta, destaco en violeta lo que creo que es la bobina de retención. Tengo dos preguntas: primero, ¿es esta la bobina de retención? Está ubicada debajo del control de mi mano derecha cuando estoy en el asiento del operador. La segunda pregunta es sobre la cantidad de resistencia/ohmios que debería tener. Lo desenchufé y está leyendo 53,1 ohmios, ¿es esa la cantidad correcta de resistencia para esta pieza?

También he adjuntado otros 3 documentos a los que hago referencia mientras soluciono problemas.

En el documento RENR6419-06 - Esquema eléctrico, en la página 8, se muestra que el solenoide: la válvula de retención debe tener 9,4 ohmios de resistencia. No estoy seguro de si estoy mirando la pieza correcta debido a los diferentes nombres, como bobina de retención y válvula de retención.

Hello, I'm trouble shooting Parking Brake Indicator and Armrest Indicator Are Flashing on my CAT 226B serial number MJH08353. In the attached picture, in purple I highlight what I believe is the detent coil. I have two questions, first, is this the detent coil? It's located under my right hand control when in the operator seat. The second question is regarding the amount of resistance/ohms that this should have. I unplugged it and it's reading 53.1 ohms, is that the right amount of resistance for this part?

I have also attached 3 other docs that I'm referencing while trouble shooting.

In the RENR6419-06 - Electrical Schematic document, on page 8, it shows the Solenoid: Detent Valve should have 9.4 ohms of resistance. I'm just not sure if I'm looking at the right part due to different names like dent coil and detent valve.

Hello, I had a similar problem on a 226B2 skid steer loader (MJH04220), the parking and armrest indicators were flashing. In my case, it was not the ECM that failed, it was the faulty retention coil. When the coil was disconnected, the equipment began to operate normally. I left the retention coil disconnected in order to operate the equipment until the new part arrived.

Ah, that is the one for the implement handle detent.
If you go back to somewhere around Post #55 on Page 3 the subject of that coil was discussed.

Current SIS2Go subscription and I’m confused by the wiring schematic vintage nomenclature. Attempting to identify the wiring diagram for my machine. Advice?

I had the same issue with a 2003 226 and it ended up being my detent coil, once unplugged the machine no longer had interlock issues. i believe my machine is earlier than what was described in this thread so the trouble shooting procedure must not be exactly the same since some of it didnt make sense. I have not yet replaced the solenoid. my dealer current shows $343 for the 172-0970 part

Post your machine Serial Number. That will indicate if the troubleshooting procedure here is applicable to you.

Hello, it seems to be normal for the retaining coil to fail. Lately, my clients don't replace them; we simply leave them disconnected, so we can work without any problems. Besides, they're not cheap to buy every time they fail.
