Busted CAT 234-0732 hand throttle cable

I have a 2012 CAT 252B3 s/n TNK01281 with 2,600 hours on it that started to not drop to low idle. I figured it was due to a sticky foot peddle or seizing cable but put the issue on the back burner for a few weeks. Then the hand throttle cable snapped. No big deal. An easy fix. But when I called Zieglar, they want over $300 for the cable. I see them on eBay for around $100 from off-brands. Anyone have any experience on if the CAT version is worth 3x the money?

Also, I chatted with a CAT tech and he said those cables are known for breaking due to a sticky foot control. He said they updated the design around the B3 era but didn't know if my design was the updated one. He said replacing the cable without replacing the foot control on the older version was pointless because you'd just break another cable. My foot control doesn't seem terrible but I guess I have nothing to compare it to. The new one is $800 which again seems crazy. Are there any tips on checking the foot control? I'm thinking I'd just give it a diesel soak and maybe coat it with some silicone.

Just trying to get my snow machine in working order without spending a fortune

TIA

Replaced the cable once on my 248B.
Not sure i can blame it on the pedal, but...
It couldn't hurt to disassemble/ clean up/ lube the pedal assembly while you have the floorboard out.

Shouldn't be that difficult to clean up.
