Hi,
I've got what I think is a leaky engine side/back pump shaft seal on my old 742. So, I went to pull the little ford gasser motor, but it appears the splines are stuck on the pump shaft. According to the previous owner, the u joints were replaced 750 hours ago when it was converted tom propane. The manual says "Slide the engine off onto a table.", but this puppy isn't sliding anywhere but left, right, up, and down. I don't think I've really gotten it back more than 1/4". I've been prying back on the alternator bracket, and tapping back on the motor mount with a large hammer with no avail. You can't reach past the fan shroud to access the shaft from the back of the machine with the flywheel in the way, but I heard you can reach back and grease the u-joints from under the cab. I'm going to see what I can feel from under the cab, but I really don't think there is room for a pry bar or anything as I already took a good gander and you can't access much because it's solid frame under the fuel and hydro tanks. It seams that the 732,741, 742, 742b, and 743 all have the same longitudinal engine config and a similar splined shaft setup. Hooking the engine to my four wheeler and giving it a jerk even crossed my mind, but I'm afraid I could damage the pump so I held off. Any insight to this mess is greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance!!
