    Drifting stabilizer

Yeah. I’ve seen some pretty dinged up shafts over my vast years that didn’t leak at all. Not gonna kick a sleeping dog now.

    Drifting stabilizer

I agree but am learning the ropes in the heavy equipment service world and didn’t really know what had happened to my cylinder so I’m learning as I go.

    Drifting stabilizer

This was my first experience using them. I took them the complete cylinder. I pulled it off the backhoe and took it to them. They told me that in order for them to warranty it I would need a new rod because it has some dings. I told them it wasn’t leaking at the rod seals. It was just drifting...

    Engine blow by

I was afraid of that but didn’t know. You know I never suspected low compression because of the way it fires off on the first crank. Also there’s no puffing or excessive smoke. What should you be seeing from a good engine in respect to the fill tube blowing out oil? Does a new engine have any...

    Engine blow by

There isn’t a cloud. Just dripping oil. The engine hour meter has been disconnected since I’ve had it. You don’t want to open the fill cap with the engine running or you will get sprayed with oil droplets. If that gives you an idea of how much blow by.

    Engine blow by

How much blow by is normal? I have enough to make a mess of the underside of the backhoe coming out of a vent tube off the side of the crankcase. It is a 1991 Case 580K with a natural aspirated 390 CI 4 cylinder. Starts and runs great. Hasn’t been using much oil up till now. It’s due for an oil...

    Drifting stabilizer

Wow thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely do that next time. Yeah I agree it’s B.S but it won’t go in to them again for that kind of repair. I’m going to do it myself from now on. Thanks for the moral support!

    Drifting stabilizer

Education ain’t cheap I’ve always said. Next time I will be more prepared to troubleshoot it and make the repairs myself.

    Drifting stabilizer

The repair shop opened her up and found a big chunk gone out of the piston seal and resealed it and I put it back on today and it works perfectly. Said they didn’t know how it happened and charged me $255. I don’t know how I could’ve done it because it leaked from day one. I paid it and left...
