    Cat Hydraulic Fluid Alternative

I don’t know anything about Sunoco, either. I never see their products in the PNW.

    Anybody hear about these tractors

Smuggle it through Skagway when the Port of Entry closes at 11pm.

    Homeowners buying old giant excavators?

I really enjoy your posts, John C. Hope things are well with you.

I see Chevron just announced their third price increase since the conflict started. Scheduled for mid May at 30%. XOM is at their third or fourth price increase, but I don’t get their notices or pay much attention. My oil friends tell me this mess won’t go back to normal until Q1 2027, best...

Anyone familiar with UN T50 LPG ISO’s?

Yeah. I put a ball valve on the opposite end. Interesting you mentioned fire hose testing. I was just looking at the test apparatus they use. That would be more convenient. Especially, if I was doing these in bulk.

How did you get it out?

    A plastic Pete! That’s terrible.

Anyone familiar with UN T50 LPG ISO’s?

Let’s bump dis’ thread. Got a big over-the-water fuel transfer on the calendar and those Coasties love their hose certifications. Hydro-testing tonight at 1.5x the MAWP and getting a bath while doing so. I need to fine tune my test rig, but it’s working fairly well. Hold for 10 minutes...

That’s the most sketchy, private equity owned, oil blender in North America. They are still paying for the last Napa hydraulic oil lawsuit. New branding, same oil, new owners. “$10.85 million class-action settlement was reached regarding Warren-manufactured "303" tractor hydraulic fluid...

How did you get it out?

Flew from Ketchikan to Craig, then caught the crew boat going across Trocadero Bay to a road building job on Shaan-Seet land. Got plenty sea sick and beat-up crossing the Bay. Found a Komatsu PC200-5 stuck in the middle of a creek at a bridge project. Water up to the swing bearing...

    CAT 304 weak starter

I have a hard time getting spun up on a cold morning, too. Comes with age. Welcome to the HEF, fellow Caterpillar excavator enthusiast. Good to have you. The starter motor was probably used too much when it was new. That’s the problem.

    Farm use excavator

I see it all the time up here. Somebody buys the most oddball, gray market, obsolete auction machine they can find in Seattle and they spend more money shipping to the bush than it cost. With luck, it walks off the barge under its own power.

    Farm use excavator

And a classic going back to 2010. It should be required reading for any new HEF member. https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/threads/the-most-entertaining-school-me-thread-my-1st-piece-of-h-e-two-80ton-hoes.17736/#post-226346

Case 215, welcome to the HEF. This topic is re-visited at least once a month. There are numerous active threads. This is my favorite. https://www.heavyequipmentforums.com/threads/homeowners-buying-old-giant-excavators.101382/

Anyone else made their own hard line when the part was not available: Case 580D D121654

Parker has a good selection of tube supplies and tools. The 4300 catalog. My local store carried the seamless in 20’ sticks. Excavator boom and stick tubes are ridiculously challenging to ship. Easier to fab new ones on site.

    Non-greaseable u-joints on new trucks

Same here. No problems with them on the T370’s and T880’s. Although, we did have a few issues pre-delivery in the 18/19 timeframe with failed U-joints while the trucks were being delivered cross-country to catch the barge in Seattle. That cross country trip was a great shakeout to find...

    Battery Diconnect

That’s a good switch. I’ve installed many of them. If you are going to run four batteries, I would split the grounds and use two switches. You could get by with 2/0 cable that way.

2003 isx 400 timing and metering actuators

It’s going to be difficult to guess. You’ll need to plug insite in and take a look.

That unplugged sensor is the engine oil temp sensor. The new sensor in the picture is the baro sensor.
