I am experiencing drive and control issues. This issues are sporadic. I lose all control functions in the basket other than steer and high idle when attempting to drive. And other times I will have lift functions and yet no dive functions other tan steer and high idle when trying to drive. Though other times you can start it up and have all normal functions. It has me truly stumped and of course it is starting peak season when we need this machine.

Thanks for any advise

If you telescope the boom in and out (provided you can) does it change what will work and what wont? Does this machine have the OEM digital control system? You can tell if you open the lower control panel and there should be two computer boards about the size of a paperback book in there.

When using any other functions it does not make any difference. And yes it has two boards that are OEM. Any ideas?

Brother, i dont know where to even tell you to begin!! I have had three different Terex machines with this set up and have had the whole gambit of issues. I had a TB110 that the wire harness inside the boom was ripped and caused wires to touch and do similar things to what you described, but it would only cause issue when the boom was telescoped beyond a certain point. I have had the lower control board (the one on the top) malfunction and cause the machine to randomly extend the jib, rotate the basket, and rev the engine, and to sporadically work.

The first thing i would check is the battery, these OEM setups are extremely sensitive to voltage. If your battery is even slightly weak things may not work. Thats a cheap way to get started and might tell the whole story...... hopefully! If that doesnt work try to call Alexander Equipment in Chicago 815-933-2122 or you may try calling Genie Industries which Terex now owns. They used to have a guy that knows everything there is to know about these booms.

OK great that is wonderful to hear there is other things to look into and maybe someone that may have an idea. Thanks so much. I have tested voltage and have seen some drop at times but didn't believe that was an issue. When running I am showing 13-13.5 volts. So that's good. Do you think its possible that the board may be faulty? Or that possible volt drop may cause it to act up?

Any luck solving your issues? My machine is giving me those same issues...

I have a TB110 and just started into checking it out. The diesel fired right up after sitting for years. The manuals are available on line. Terex owns Genie & they have service and parts manuals for free. General manuals page
