Takeuchi TL140 running issues

Been running our TL140 for a few hours today until it starts shutting off every 5 seconds after it’s started, when it shuts off the triangle at the top of the monitor starts flashing red. Checked the relay for the fuel shutoff under my feet and it is good, cracked a fuel line and it is getting fuel until it shuts off. Any help would be appreciated

Fuel separator cap little elbows may be clogged. Remove cap and clean out.

Is the flashing triangle present before the stall?

First, check the coolant level. It needs to be full.
If full, unplug the level sensor at the green arrow, and connect a jumper from the engine side plug to ground. This will eliminate the water level protection. I bypassed all of mine after the wire at the sensor broke.

If that doesn't help, the fuel water separator inlet tends to collect debris. Remove the inlet connection at the RH red arrow and verify no blockage.

In extreme cases, the tank outlet at the left arrow can plug with debris.


The question is, is the stall electrical or fuel supply related.

Before doing any of the above, the shutdown protection can be bypassed by plugging together the bullet connectors taped to the harness (usually with yellow or blue tape) right adjacent to the rear door hinge area (at least that's where it is on a TL150).

the red triangle doesn’t start flashing until it shuts off. And i heard about the connectors by the door hinge but mine does not seem to have that anywhere, only thing i see around my door hinges are my hoses that go into the cooler on the door. Coolant level is good, oil level is good, it’s shooting out fuel when i crack the lines but looks like it’s very little pressure

Fuel Separator can be found by opening the back door engine access and securing it with the door rod. It's on the bottom left. You should get an owners manual which has some of the basic maintenance info.

The bullet connectors heymccall was talking about are close to the battery on my TL140. IIRC they are just above the battery. Mine were wrapped in yellow tape.

i only see one connector under my yellow tape

i plugged the two connectors together and still the same thing shutting off after 5 seconds

if i keep turning the key on and off while it’s running i can keep it running

update, if i remove the negative cable while it’s running it will stay running and operatinf

That ain't them. These will be a male and female bullet connector.

Have you tried grounding the coolant level sensor?

did some digging the wiring for the coolant level sensor ripped out, ran a ground from battery to it and now it runs fine
