Never make it, I travel two states and won't go past the Rockies. I only go to Idaho & Montana
if on a tow. Don't like flying or boats, one sinks the other noses into the ground, trains aren't
bad but it seems those have a bad time staying on the tracks. Plus I'm getting less enthused
about driving---the highways are filled with people driving Noses to Sphincters, too many on
the antique highway system.

Seems most believe if there not at 80mph involved in a constant tailgating extravaganza, why
there just not getting anywhere. I could be driving along a sort of deserted stretch of road
doing the limit for miles no one around. Then check the mirror and here's three right on me.
Let off some--they fly by playing leap frog nose to sphincter for miles--must be something
about the smell they like.

they fly by playing leap frog nose to sphincter for miles-
Happened to me this afternoon. I pulled out, no one to be seen as far as I could see to my right. Make my left turn, get to my next turn about a half mile up and a black mustang flies past me like I'm not even moving. I was going 45mph, speed limit is 45mph at that point. He had to have been doing 70mph or better.

Funny thing is--folks are so enthralled with their cars----they drive like hell, get there in a hurry
just to get out of it. Then can't stand the fact a crankshaft isn't spinning around to propel them
somewhere, so jump back in to go nowhere. All the time griping about the price of gas.

Ya'll starting to sound like grumpy ol' men! Sitting around coffees in the diner, bitchin' about how the whole world is going to h*** in a handbasket! You need to get out more!! :D
Ya'll-----you must be from Bamma.

I don't even associate with others. After babysitting a bunch of know it all truck drivers that
all have the idea they would make a good president---nah I don't need to get out more.
I do what I want to do not what someone wants me to do.

TS I’m in the same camp on the flyin and big boat stuff. I like the flyin part but I don’t like the people stuff. And I’m too worn out to fight with a ax hole misbehaving on a plane. Only big boat I’ve been on is the CVN72.

You guys know I'm just kidding you--but travel just isn't as much fun as it use to be.
For one---just finding some decent food on the road is a real task. Diners use to be
all along a route--just not that way anymore. Minimart crud just doesn't cut it. The
other is the price of hotel/motels--Oregon Coast is just out there in price.
I drove enough years ago--just not excited about it these days.

The highway i travel the most has a 60 mph limit but its more like they removed the speed limit. Its a deal most of my rigs were not geared to run 70+ and there is no other way to get where I need to go.

Frank Lenzi was an American who lobbed up in Adelaide, South Australia, along with his brothers in the 1960's.
He started trucking with a brother, and ran an International R190, then moved up into Kenworths.

Frank started Cleveland Freight Lines in 1977, named after Cleveland, OH., which is where he hailed from.
He also raced boats in Australia, and he'd raced them in Cleveland as well. Frank bought over 100 new Kenworths, and named them all, "Mack-Munchers".

Painted in Maroon and Cream, the CFL trucks were legend on the Melbourne (Victoria) to Perth, Western Australia, Road Express run.

Frank rarely sold his "Mack-Munchers", he would rebuild and repaint them, and keep them rolling. Some of his trucks were reported to have travelled 10,000,000 kms.
In 1988, Frank bought the 10,000th Australian-built Kenworth truck.

The CFL KW's always looked schmick, and they were FAST. If you saw a Mack-Muncher in your mirrors, it would get very big, very quickly, and overtake you like you were standing still.

I can recall getting blown away more than once, by Franks Mack Munchers in the late 1970's, he would be pulling two trailers, and I had a Mack F-785 with just one trailer!
Frank was using 3408 Cats at 450HP in the late 1970's, and most of his engines were tuned for more than factory power output.

It was reported that some of his Mack-Munchers could do 100mph. I know I followed one Mack-Muncher one time in the late 1970's in my Holden V8 ute, and he was sitting on 135kmh (84mph).

Frank died of old age, aged 87, in Dec 2022, and his widow sold up everything, and closed the business down.

I only thought of Frank today when I spotted a Mack-Muncher parked up in a roadside lay-by, and it was still wearing the CFL livery and colours. RIP Frank, you were a legend!
