Z45/25J Mobility issue

Genie Z45/25J, 2006, Gasoline powered. On occasion, the unit doesn't drive forward/backward when toggled. The boom is fully retracted and the boom is sitting in the cradle. After a number of attempts, the unit will respond and function fine. Thoughts on why it's doing this?
