I was pretty keen on the bolt on pads when I got the Yanmar and I'm still wondering wether I did the right thing going with a rubber. Down the road I will be looking at a 9,000 lb machine and I'm pretty sure I will go with the steel tracks and bolt on pads. Bottom line is if you are working on rock, rubble, concrete etc go with the steel. If, like us, your are on pavement, paving, lawns, driveways etc then rubber is the go.
