Repowering with different SAE bellhousing sizes

I have a bunch of equipment I am looking at repowering, most of which are small running SAE 4 bellhousings, starting with a little gallion grader. It actually has a UD-236 in it but its way to cold blooded for my liking and weather we have up here. I was going to switch it out to another small gallion that I wont use as much and install something more friendly in it. It has a SAE 4 bolt pattern on the transmission and I am having a hard time finding a Diesel Engine that meets my requirements, brand (deutz, kubota or detroit) , and fits a SAE 4. I do however have some SAE 3 engines around. I have seen they make an adapter plate such as https://www.hayescouplings.com/pdf/26-01305.pdf

I am however unsure what changes I would require at that point. Dose the SAE 3 flywheel still get used with the starter for it? How do you make the existing pressure plate and clutch work with it? Will the mechanical linkage for the clutch care about the 1/8" difference from stock?

Just trying to do my homework first to see what I need and how to make it work before I have a pile of incompatible parts, and a non functioning machine. If this goes good, I also have a ditchwitch with a V465D wisconsin I am looking to switch out as well, again a SAE 4 bellhousing.

Thanks for the help in advance,
