These are a couple pictures of a parking garage in downtown SLC being demo'd as part of the "Downtown Rising" project that's recently begin.

The contractor is Grant MacKay Demolition; Hitachi 750 and Volvo 330.

Let's see if I can get this to work:

Nice

Looks like you have two places you can attach the lift cylinders? I guess one is for digging and one is for demo?

How do I post the images in the message?

Hit the post reply button, and you'll get the reply page.

On that page, hit the "manage attachments" button (Red arrow), and the smaller window will appear.

In that window, use the "browse" button (green arrow), to browse your files until you find the picture you'd like to post. You'll notice the table in that window. It tells you the file types, and the size of the picture that the site will accept. If the picture is larger than 640 X 640 pixels, it's too large, and needs to be made smaller. Also, if the filesize is larger than 100.0 kb, it needs to be compressed.

Hit the upload button (blue arrow), and your picture will be uploaded to the site. You will then find the filename of that picture, directly above the "manage attachments" button, that you started with.

You can post up to 5 pictures per post in this fashion.

Awesome Demo Shots

Hey those are awesome shots of the parking garage. Grant MacKay is an awesome outfit out of SLC. They were one of the first to use the big mining excavators for demolition work. The power in those things must be incredible and just knock the living cr*p out of the old buildings. More great photos on their website of the big boys tearing stuff down. Right on, guys.

That's for sure. When they tore down the 1,750 acre Geneva Steel factory in Vineyard, Utah it was a sight to see.

They had a Hitachi 1200 with a thumb, two Hitachi 1100's, four Komatsu 800's with breakers/thumbs, four or five Link-Belt 800's and an army of smaller excavators tearing that place down.

The bigger machines were loading the scrap steel into 785's and old Terex haul trucks where it was then trucked to train loading ramps so the steel could be railed to Seattle and then shipped to China to be remanufactured.

I heard some crazy stories that the Mackay boys had a blast (no pun intended) while blasting and tearing that place down.

Nothing quite like watching a Hitachi 1200 with an 1100 on each side of it tearing into an old steel storage building.
