I bought this drill press around 30 years ago . It belonged to a old machinist he sold this and a 13" southbend lathe to another guy at about the time I was looking for a lathe . I bought both it has a 30s Ford 3 speed . I replaced the quill bearings and welded up several holes in the table. It has been a great drill press I did a bunch of work for a small factory with it one time drilling 1 inch holes in a part for an exercise machine frame . At one time I had 5 drill presses now I have 3 I am giving this one to a buddy.

I have a similar one, pretty worn out. It is still set for belt drive from a line shaft. The boss wants to convert it to an end table and light. The problem is that the floor probably won’t hold the weight. Cam

Nice conversion from a lineshaft drive, those will run damn near forever.

I have another that has all the flat belt stuff on it . I used a serpentine belt off of a truck it was the right length . Dang I cant remember were I got it but it was seating outside for years some were I could drive by and see it. It has most of the down feed stuff on it . I need to and have been wanting to set down and write down where I got stuff from before I cant remember anything.

Our old drill press has a down feed but all Babbitt is worn and needs to be redone. The bevel gears are still ok, just barely engage now. An electric motor, belt, pulley and some redone Babbitt bearings and I could be drilling holes. (Edit: there is also a broken tooth on the low gear). The drill is really a piece of art.
This press was missing all the down feed stuff and had about a foot of rod welded on the down feed shaft with a messed up handle cobbled on it. I cut the shaft off and put a Chevy lower timing gear sprocket on it . I am surprised that the owner didn't fix it . The lathe he had had been around the block several times but he had it in good working order. The best part about the lathe was it had everything with it you could want.

My Boss bought me a mill and a lathe a few yrs before I retired. That is why the old drill press has not been restored to working condition. Cam
