Alarm and N code on display

We have a Case 580 Backhoe that when you shift into forward or reverse an alarm sounds and the letter “N” appears on the display?? Any ideas of how to fix??

Just happened on mine - found this old post with a quick google search and didn't have to go home and get the manual out. Saved a lot of time. Thanks for posting the fix.
