I have a 2016 John Deere 317g skid steer that is not shutting off when I turn the key off. A friend was running it and ended up disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel filter to get it to shut off. I know he should have choked it out by covering the air filter to get it to turn off, but this is where we are now. Hoping nothing was damaged by him disconnecting the fuel line instead of just choking it out.

It's the weirdest thing though. I didn't know if anyone else has ever seen or heard of this issue before and could steer me in the right direction.

Thoughts?

Any help here is greatly appreciated

Welcome to HEF Faulty;)!

Let's start with the machine's serial number please.

If it runs on again pull the below relay to see if it shuts off.

Your serial number indicates you have keyless ignition, correct?

When you shut the machine off, do all the lights on the sealed switch module go out and the engine stays running, or do the lights in the module remain lit? Does the display remain lit or go out?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out about your 2016 John Deere 317G skid steer not shutting off when the key is turned off. Based on your description, this is most likely an issue with the fuel shutoff solenoid, which is responsible for cutting off the fuel supply to the engine when you turn the key off. Here's a guide to diagnose and repair the issue:
