310SG Backhoe LCD Screen and Guages work intermittently

I have a 2007 open cab John Deere 310SG backhoe with 3100 hrs that I have recently purchased. I have been going through it changing all filters and fluids and fixing little things that need some TLC. Overall seems to be in pretty good condition. One concerning thing I have noticed is that the guages seem to work intermittently, but no codes show up. If i turn the switch on and off and the LCD screen will be blank. I cycle it again and the LCD screen works but the engine temp Guage is high (even though i just started it) and the trans. torque temp is the same. Fuel guage will be correct one time then off the next. Pretty sure it is not the original Guage cluster (has adapter bracket) As a side note fuse F14 (flasher/horn BK/ATC-20) blows every time I try to install it. Is a concern but more interested in console guages first. Machine is of later production (S.N. 951254 -)

Welcome to HEF nseeger;)!

I would check the grounds. Under the loader control lever cover there is a ground on the floor. Next, under the cab behind the right rear tire (near where the first ground is attached), there is a ground that connects the cab to the machine frame. Then check the ground on the left side of the engine that attaches the frame to the starter. This ground has multiple wires, so make sure they are all clean, attached and tight.

I believe the turn/stop/flasher/horn are the circuits protected by fuse F14 .
The brake light pressure switches are known to fail (short to ground). One at a time ,unplug the (2) brake light pressure switches on the brake valve and see if the fuse continues to blow.

Thanks for the ideas. I will check them as soon as I can. I was thinking that it could be a ground issue, but wasn't sure. I had read other threads that said that ECM failure could cause problems with the guages. Hopefully that isn't causing my problems. Dave thanks for tip on the pressure switches. I would never have guessed to check that. I have a buddy who is a heavy equipment mechanic and I know he would help me if I asked, but he is so busy I like to try to figure it out myself if I can. Thanks both of you for the ideas. I will let you know how it turns out.

I worked on the ground wires this weekend. Had to pull right rear tire to access frame ground under operator station. Cleaned grounds under right consol and frame. Analog guages, (engine coolant temp, trans, fuel) all work but LCD screen still intermittent. I didn't have time to clean engine ground. While I had wheel off I removed outrigger pivot pin (wasn't taking grease). The pin takes grease now but the pin still spins with the outrigger. Seems like the ears on the frame will wear out over time. Shouldn't the pin stay stationary and the outrigger spin?
