No problems - just an attempt at preventive maintenance ... For example , the dozers are rated for 10-wt. oil for the hydraulic system , yet pros in the industry suggest using hydraulic-fluid . It just seems more practical to shoot some grease into the rollers whenever greasing other dozer...

There are bolts that you remove to add oil . I was wondering why grease couldn't be used , like spindles on a trailer . I could drill and tap the bolts for zerk fittings , or use adapters. ... Maybe the zerks would get knocked off ?

Is there a reason for not filling the rollers with grease ?

I acquired a root-rake . It has 10 - 3/4" x 17" tines . I chained it to the blade with come-alongs , just to try it out ... The soil here is sandy clay , clear of rocks and roots . If I try to push the rake through more than around 4" of depth , it will just spin the rubber tracks . Too much...

If lifting-forks were fabricated for a grading-type blade , how much weight could a D20 lift ? Has anybody tried this ?

Good job - looks like what they call a "Deluxe Model" here ... There's a few companies that offer them custom-made . The rippers are 12" apart , but some offer them spaced at 6" . Maybe it depends on the soil type ?

I found this link as a source : http://www.surpluscenter.com/Electrical/Linear-Actuators/DC-Linear-Actuators/?page_no=2 Tractor Supply and Northern Tool handle hydraulic-cylinders and smaller actuators . I'm sure there are other sources for both items . Tractor Supply also has lift-arms and...

Hello RRR . Yes , I saw the earlier stuff . I was looking at the electric-actuator as an economic 'plug and play' alternative to messing with the hydraulic-system ... I never saw an answer to the PTO problem ...

Instead of tapping into the hydraulics , has anybody tried using an electric-actuator to power a 3-point hitch ? I've seen them rated up to 1000 lbs. , up to 24" travel , 12- and 24-volts . It would be used for a ripper or box-blade ... I guess a PTO would be a lot more difficult to engineer . I...

I evened-out the steering levers today . The linkage looks 'balanced' - each side seems adjusted the same . After thinking about things , I pulled off both brake-adjusting caps . I bottomed them out the same , then backed each one out 4 turns (the left had fewer turns than the right side) ...

More weirdness ... After pressure-washing my dozer under the rear-deck , today I cleaned under the main floorboards . It might be advisable if you have not done this . There were oily rags ( possible fire hazard ) , and clumps of oil-caked dirt under the transmission and clutch , as well as...

The O-ring appears to have been the main issue ... The previous owner claimed that he had owned the unit around 15 years , and had just installed new steering-clutches - all it needed was 'a little adjustment' . Google revealed that he had purchased it at a local auction 2 years ago , and put...

RRR , the rain stopped long enough for me to tear into it , after pressure-washing all of the years of baked-on grease , which I should have done when I first checked it out ... Your recent posts about steering opened my eyes a little bit more ... The brake is not really that worn , although I...

RRR , I just received a new brake from Kent Baugh yesterday (Thanks Kent !) . I'm waiting for the rain to stop , to get started ... The brake release on my D-20 is really tricky to release . I had the notion that the parking brake was the right brake - I could be wrong . The big difference in...

The manuals arrived ... I dissembled the right brake . Nothing broken , I guess the brake-adjusting bolt was bottomed out - no adjustment left . Torqueing it unhooked the front-end from the brake-band . I guess I need a steering-brake band to correct it ... It took a lot to free the adjusting...

Thanks RRRancher . Its the right 'band ass'y brake' hardware - I will guess the threaded 'shaft' No.9 (108-33-32270) . Turning 'nut' No. 13 is what did it , it feels real floppy in the hole now , but it won't pull out . It didn't take a lot of force to do it . I won't know for sure until I...

Hello all . New guy here . I just bought a D20P-6 , and already messed it up . "A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing". Anyway , it runs fine , but it would not steer to the right . The right lever pulls back almost a foot more than the left lever . I tried to turn the adjusting bolt -...
