    Self recovery winch sizing

I definitely thought of that after checking out the alternator output on these things, not much there! I did buy an 18 hydraulic winch. I plan on making a custom mount and just running hose up to the boom couplers if i need to use it. Even thought about making a mount with grousers on the...

    Trailer loading CTL question

Run over a 4x4 on the ground, should show you exactly where center of gravity is. Stop when you level off, that will be it.

    GVW Questions

26 2500. Gvw 10850. Need to look at axle weights yet, haven't gotten that far. Thought about the cdl route or derate a 16k trailer to 15150, puts me at 26k and depending on trailer weight may be in the ballpark of net weight I need 10-11 ideally. Its damn close. This is just personal stuff...

    GVW Questions

The 10k trailer doesnt apply im my state, only 26001 +. Im quite one the line of needing a cdl or not depending on which trailer i pick. The 2200# attachment isnt the norm, more like 600lb buckets. So maybe 10.6k the skid weighs, will just have to run numbers.

    GVW Questions

Yes unfortunately Im running the numbers and coming up with that same conclusion. Might just have to get a cdl then i wont have to worry about skimming under it and I can just get the trailer to be right for the load.

    GVW Questions

Nope, trying to stay under if at all possible, and trying to understand the ins and outs before making any decisions on what trailer and licensing may be needed. Thinking the trailer im looking at to serve multiple purposes may not work as such due to curb weight, its close but still over. Its...

    GVW Questions

Gotcha, I think I understand. Technically you could be over gvw on my hypothetical setup but scaling it kinda hides the pin weight, unless they made you unhook. My setup i was thinking was i have a 10k skid, my heaviest attachment is 2200#, so 12200. I was looking at a trailer, was near 5k...

    GVW Questions

Right, but like the guy above you kinda noted, dot isnt making you drop the trailer alone on the scale, or ive never heard of such. As long as you scale on all axles should be ok right? I assume the trailer manufacturers rate the trailer more so on axle and tire limits than the structural...

    GVW Questions

Looking at a GN trailer to haul skid steer around and coming to a question I keep back tracking on. Does the pin weight give you basicslly a higher gvw for the trailer? What i mean is lets say 14k gvw / 10k payload trailer, hypothetically 2k pin weight, can i haul the 12k on it even though if...

    Self recovery winch sizing

That was my direction, mounting it on a custom winch plate to go into a 2 inch receiver on my hd bumper. It will not be permanently mounted, only when in the woods. Id rather have something, even though the mounting isn't ideal its better than nothing, and like you said i can and do have...

    Self recovery winch sizing

Looking to see what you all use for self recovery winches. I love hydraulic but it limits me to just my skid steer. If i went electric i could possibly move it to a trailer etc.. That and size. I dont plan on burying the thing ( who does), but if i have a winch i dont have to get desperate and...

    JD Forestry Doors

So update, they sent a clear one to me and while I still noticed some distortion it wasnt as bad and not noticeable while working. They know they have more issues with the tinted impregnated windows, just the world were in i guess.

Tinted ones? Sounds like its more to do with the rather than just clear.

    JD Forestry Doors

Looking at forestry doors and bought one that is curved like the OE door. Got it mounted up and drove around the yard and noticed my eyes trying to keep focus to the point Im getting half nauseous. So seeing this in the auto world, the window has distortions in it. Company sent another, same...

    Low-flow Forestry Mulcher Head?

Lots of people buy the Raytree brand and have had pretty good luck. Lots of auction places sell them and you can usually snag one for 5k or less for a low flow. They are built pretty well for what you pay. Hard to justify 20k+ for your usage.

    325G high flow/ couplers

Gotcha, thanks for the input. This is only going to be personal, not production. Just wanted to get the most out of the machine as it is. My thought was buy the coupler cartridge that screws into the machine to bump it up to 3/4 just for the mulcher use, maybe a few times a year. Looks...

    325G high flow/ couplers

Where are you guys seeing this info / graphs? Just trying to understand it fully. Is the 6psi loss really a huge deal or should I still think about switching to these large couplers? I doubt the machine will be pushing 32 gpm all the time obviously as track motors and fan eat some of that.

    325G high flow/ couplers

It is a high flow machine, definitely switchable in the cab and have used it on other attachments with noticeable speed in them when enabled. I dont know of any Deere with doubled couplers for high flow, still doesn't explain the small coupler sizing, even for larger machines. I think the fix...

    325G high flow/ couplers

Gotcha, figured there would be a caveat to the information. Given that the salesman didnt really agree with it either, but he's just a salesman.. I did some digging and I think I found the 333g cartridges will work and are 3/4". Im not using this professionally but Id like to get the most out...

    325G high flow/ couplers

The more I think about it the more I think its just a "gotcha" in advertising. Like the full pump output is 32gpm but you're only going to see xx at the implement because drive motors and fan are using some.. going to talk to salesman tomorrow.
